Introductory Letter
Dear viewer,
My portfolio consists of all the work I’ve completed throughout the whole semester of the English composition of the Anthropology course. During this course, I’ve used resources pulled from the CCNY Library. I’ve learned that outlines are very helpful in writing long pieces of writings and using sensory details is important in enhancing my writings. Plus understanding the rhetorical devices like pathos, logos, and ethos. Overall, I had a great experience writing different types of writing style for this class.

Joey Trinh
Self Assessment
As a writer, I’ve learned that you should reach out for help even if you don’t think you need any. Throughout my whole educational career, I dreaded letting others read my writing because I was afraid of constructive criticism when it came to my writing. It was helpful seeing things from your colleagues’ perspective, as they can bring insights to your writing that may help enhance it. Besides being helpful, it was also interesting reading my peers’ writing as it also helped me see where I am at and what I need to do and what I’ve done wrong.
The organization of my papers is quite good. I do my best to follow the format that is required. The videos that Professor Stoler made were very helpful in keeping me in order. Another thing I do well is being punctual, I always try to submit my papers before the deadline. Besides that, I believe that I did well on most of my poems because it was filled with pathos, so it was very easy to put my own emotions into my work.
What I struggle with most is writing deep analysis for my essays. Especially on my Research and Analysis Essay, because I just explain it on the surface which explains why my works are quite short. So it was really helpful when my peers review my drafts and respond with helpful tips such as questions I can answer to help build on what I already have.
In the future, I will definitely reach out more for help and criticism to improve my writing.
